Antony will follow Ten Haag out of Manchester United if the Dutchman is relieved of his duties at the club.
The pair spent two years together at Ajax, with the Brazilian playing 82 times and scoring 24 goals. He also recorded 22 assists and some bright displays which forced Manchester United into coughing €100m for him.
Ten Haag’s future at Manchester United is uncertain, even more so as results have dipped lately. They have managed just two wins in their last five games, including that incredible FA cup win over Liverpool.
But it’s not only the results that have dipped, the performances have been dire. They are conceding way too many shots, with only three teams having faced more shots that United.
Despite Ten Haag claiming the underlying numbers don’t matter except the results, the results haven’t been much to look at.
Ten Haag responds in uncertain terms about his future
When asked if he still thinks he is the man that the owners want to help lead the club going forward, he responded with:
Despite claiming publicly in recent weeks that he has the backing of the board, it’s obvious that even he is not certain he would be at the helm next season.
Ten Haag has failed to convince anyone that he is the right man to take united forward.
Antony will follow Ten Haag out of Manchester United
The Brazilian has largely flattered to deceive since his move to the club a little less than 2 years ago.
He is five appearances shy of his Ajax total but has only managed 10 goals in all competitions. Ten Haag has constantly demanded more from his star signing, and has reduced him to the bench in recent weeks.
It’s hard to see Antony convincing a new manager that he can be better if he can’t convince the man that made him. As a result, it’s only a logical choice for him to be choosing to depart if Ten Haag leaves.
