Forbes has released the list of highest paid footballers for the 2022/2023 season.
Footballers are being ranked by what they earn both on and off the pitch by the elite body.
Either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo are not topping the list for the first time in nine years. The duo has always shared the highest earnings amongst themselves.
Mbappe becomes highest paid footballer
French world cup winner, Kylian Mbappe has replaced Messi and Ronaldo, topping the rich list after his shocking new deal with PSG.
In a bid to ward off Real Madrid from snatching the young forward touted to be a future Ballon d’OR winner, PSG slammed football most lucrative deal on the young fellow while increasing his clause.
Mbappe has the most rapid growth in present day football, collating from his football numbers to his ever growing social media presence.
Since David Beckham in 2013, Mbappe has become the first player to common in-between Messi’s and Ronaldo’s reign of riches.
The 23-year-old also set a new record of the highest earner ever, in football history, surpassing Lionel Messi’s 2019 earning record of $127 million.
