Legendary Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique has ended his career with a red card after he was sent off from the bench against Osasuna.
Barcelona had a narrow win against Osasuna in the La Liga after going down by one goal and were left with ten men on the pitch following Robert Lewandowski red card.
The former Manchester United star was probably protesting against the referee ignoring the supposed foul on Marcos Alonso before going ahead to show Lewandowski a second yellow and further sending him off.
After the first half, Gerard Pique was engage in a conversation with the referee, it’s unclear what Pique said to match official Gil Manzano, there’s no question that the official knew it was the defender’s final game before retirement and still dismissed him.
Pique already received a warm farewell in his last match at the Spotify Camp Nou last weekend and would feel fulfilled despite seeing a red card in what would have been his last ever football match.
Gerard Pique joins Stoichkov as the Barcelona player with the most red cards in all competitions, both having 11 red cards to their names.
They both share same value, 8 red cards with Pep Guardiola in La Liga alone.
