3 most racially abused players in La Liga

Racial abuse have been a constant in Spanish football and have risen again by an unbelievable volume following recent outburst with Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Jr.

Top players from around the world have suffered this ill treatment from fans ranging from the likes of Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Dani Alves and a lot of others. Plan of curbing this ill acts are being held but it is believe not to be enough by some of the players.

Again, racist chant is flying around La liga stadiums, bringing severe discomfort to players who are colored. Here are the three players who have suffered the most incidents of racism in La liga in recent times;

1. Vinicius Junior

Vinicius Junior has been subjected to numerous counts of racism and hate speech both
physically and on social media.

In February 2023, during a Real Madrid match against Mallorca, a Mallorca fan was identified
and accused of racial abuse on the Brazilian and the fan’s membership was withdrawn for 3
years.

Recently, Vinicius Junior got racially abused by some Valencia fans at the mestalla stadium.
Some fans were arrested and given a lifetime ban from their stadium.

2. Inaki Williams

Inaki Williams has been subject to racism since he joined Athletic Bilbao in 2014 because of his
skin colour.
One notable incident was in January 2020, when some Espanyol supporters racially abused
Inaki Williams at the Cornella-El Prat. There were also xenophobic chants too and the club paid
dearly for it.

3. Ilaix Moriba

The former Barcelona youngster has been subjected to racism because of his skin colour and
facial look.
He was once compared to a face of a monkey on social media by some fans and that was really
unacceptable, some fans saw their Twitter accounts blocked because of that.
Ilaix Moriba revealed he had to visit the psychologist because of racism.
Ilaix Moriba currently plays for Valencia, on loan from Leipzig.
