Arsenal keep sixth consecutive clean sheets away from home in Wolves win as they return to the Premier League summit

Arsenal returned to the Premier League summit after a tumultuous week that saw them loose footing in the title race and drop out of the Champion’s League. In doing so, Arsenal kept their sixth consecutive away clean sheet for the first time.

Goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard at the death saw Arsenal over the line. It’s job done for Arsenal according to Martin Odegaard although it wasn’t as easy as they would have liked.

“After a tough week, it’s obviously nice to finish on top that’s where we want to be. We have to keep on fighting now, push each other every day, we have to believe and go for it.”

Wolves made them work very hard for their win, narrowing up in the middle of the park and forcing the gunners wide. Manager Gary O’Neill handed a debut to Tawanda Chirewa but he didn’t look out of place in his 75 minutes on the pitch.

History making win takes Arsenal top

Arsenal kept their sixth consecutive away clean sheet for the first time in Premier League history for the club. They completed shut-out in away games versus WestHam, Burnley, Sheffield, City, Brighton and now wolves.

They needed two late goals in either half versus wolves to secure the three points to lift them above City.

City played in the Semi finals of the FA cup and now have a game in hand over their title rivals.

Arsenal’s home loss to Villa last week end shifted the title odds in City’s favour with few games left.

Arsenal have no margin for error until the end of the season if they want to capitalize on the slimmest slip up from their rivals. They need to win the EPL this season in order to get rid of the bottlers tag.
