Bayern choke on two goal lead versus eleventh placed Heidenheim ahead of Arsenal clash

Bayern Munich have thrown a two goal lead away to Heidenheim who are placed eleventh in Bundesliga. The German giants already have their work cut out with the league title already half way to Bayer.

 

There was a mathematical possibility of winning the league by the end of the season but that would require a perfect run. After losing to Dortmund in the Klassikier last weekend, they couldn’t afford another slip up.

Bayern start brightly versus Heidenheim

Bayern started brightly in the game, racing into a two goal lead through Kane and Gnabry. Serge Gnabry had a hand in both goals assisting Kane before scoring the second.

Heidenheim manager Frank Schmidt rang the changes at halftime and the team responded immediately. Five minutes from the restart Kevin Sessa halved the deficit to stun Bayern Munich. It took just another minute the level the game through Kleindienst.

Bayern continued to dominate the ball but the better chances continued to fall to Heidenheim. They duly went into the lead on the 79th minute, Kleindienst second of the day to hand Bayern their second successive league defeat.

Bayern meet Arsenal in three days at the Emirates in their UCL quarter final clash. They need to win in order to proceed to the semis if they are to have any chance of winning silverware this season.

Arsenal on the other hand have only lost once in their last 10 Premier League games and just once in 2024.

They come into the clash in form and confidence to banish their sour champion’s league memories with Bayern.

Arsenal fans will be pleased to see that Bayern Munich have thrown a two goal lead away to Heidenheim. Their form coupled with the advantage already have bodes well for the English side.
