Benzima wins the show against Messi, Neymar and Mbappe

Karim Benzima has pulled a storm after leading his Real Madrid team to knockout out PSG from the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid and PSG faced each other for the second leg of their Round of sixteen clash at the Santiago Bernabeu. PSG went into the match with an edge, having won 1 – 0 at home ground in Paris, after a late strike from Kylian Mbappe.

Into the second leg, PSG once again took the lead, thanks to Kylian Mbappe right foot strike in the first half. After the hour mark, PSG defense began to spill, giving out free balls and making mistakes. In the 61st minute, Real Madrid found an equalizer through Karim Benzima who got a low pass from Vinicius Jr after an PSG defense error, taking the aggregate to 2-1.

Karim Benzima saw his deflected shot past Donnarumma after Luka Modric found him in the 18 yard box. A sublime run from Luka Modric from his half of the box and curling a fine pass to Vinicius Jr created the second goal that put Real Madrid on level terms with PSG.

Immediately PSG resumed play after Real’s second goal, Real Madrid won the ball almost immediately with Rodrygo creating the chance with a curly pass before Karim Benzima shot in a deflected pass from Vinicius Jr, registering his third for the night.

PSG super forward, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe were left to watch as Benzima stole the show, sending them back to Paris in disbelief.

Messi

Mbappe was able to make an impact with his first half goal, with Neymar responsible for the assist. Messi mostly was found in the midfield, trying to get the ball from the defenders and creating something in the attack, which sometimes turns unsuccessful due to the many man marking by Real Madrid defenders and Midfielders. The seven time Balon d’OR winner was outshone and his presence was barely felt.

Real Madrid will proceed to the quarter finals of the Champions League while PSG will only focus on their domestic league.

The unseen loss to Real Madrid will further put PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino on the verge of loosing his job.
