Chelsea to pad Christopher Nkunku’s injury return similarly to Reece James

Chelsea attacker, Christopher Nkunku is set to return from a long injury that has kept him out of Chelsea first team for over 3 months. To help integrate Nkunku into the team while stabilizing his fitness, Chelsea will use the exact approach used on club captain, Reece James.

For the first time since the beginning of the new season, Nkunku took part in Chelsea’s first team training. The Frenchman wasn’t part of the full training session but he’s still being taunted to start from the bench in the match against Newcastle United.

Reece James had similar injury concern and only returned few weeks ago. He was tactical integrated into the team to avoid a repetition of the scenario that saw him limp off after Chelsea opening game match with Liverpool.

James started two games as a second half substitute before starting a few later. He’s yet to complete a match. His most minutes on the pitch was in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City where he played for 70 minutes.

These same strategy will be deployed for Christopher Nkunku. His first few games will be as a substitute, then a few start which he won’t complete the game.
