Videos emerged today of Chuba Akpom advising young players in an Arsenal wear after training with them.

The former Arsenal academy graduate appeared to be advising the players to be willing to put in extra to get ahead of competition. He said:

“If you are cheating yourself and you’re playing play station and doing b***s**t with girls and stuff, in 5 years time when your teammates start playing in youth cups or making their debuts at 17, you’re going to be the one regretting.”

“Keep doing your extras, I call them one percents, that is how to separate you from your teammates. If there is another striker in your team you need to be better than them. If he is in the gym, you have to be in the gym. If he is doing shooting after training, you have to do shooting after training.”

“You can’t cheat the game. You can’t get a contract by sitting down, doing the minimum, doing your sessions and going home. You need to do extras, you need to watch every game. Don’t cheat yourself. Don’t go to bed thinking, ‘I could have done more’, because you are going to regret it.”

“So, it was good training with you. I don’t know when I’m going to see you again but I wish you all the best. I wish you all to get scholars and Pros, so good luck. Love.”
