David Raya becomes third Spanish goal keeper to win the Golden Glove after he kept another shut out in the win over Bournemouth.
With that shut out, he ensured his 15th Premier League clean sheet of the season. He also ensured Jordan Pickford, his nearest contender could not usurp him.
Raya follows in the footsteps of Wojciech Szczesny and Petr Cech to become just the third Arsenal goalkeeper to win it.
He is also the third Spaniard to claim the award after David De Gea twice, and Pepe Reina three times. Pepe Reina claimed the prize on three occasions consecutively seasons from 2005/06 to 2007/08.
Soon to depart Ramsdale issues a response to Newcastle rumors online
Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale distanced himself from rumors of a summer move to Newcastle United.
The Englishman was the casualty of Arteta’s decision to install David Raya as first choice this season. Raya becomes third Spanish goal keeper to win the Golden Glove and the decision seems to have paid off.
Ramsdale however played the first five games of the season before being replaced by Raya ever since. The Spanish manager only called upon Ramsdale in cup games and in games Raya was ineligible for.
The initial reports linked Ramsdale with a move to London rivals Chelsea, with the 26 year-old said to be interested in a move. Such rumors have petered out however and linked to Newcastle have emerged.
It remains to be seen where Ramsdale will end up but it’s obvious he would be leaving Arsenal next Summer. Many expect him to leave, after losing his place to Raya, if he is to secure his place in the England set up.
