Belgium has given English football some top performers over the years. These five have managed to steal a place in the Premier League records with brilliant performances week in week out for most of their time in the country.

1. Kevin Debruyne

When Kevin Debruyne surpassed Dennis Bergkamp’s Premier League assist tally, he entered the conversation of being the greatest midfielder the ever seen in the Premier League. He is as good as you think he is and even more. Since he reasserted himself in the Premier League books under Guardiola, he has been peerless. Forming a part of the best midfield in the Premier League, he only needs one ball this man.

 

2. Vincent Kompany

If picking the first was easy, the second was anything but. Remember that goal versus Leicester? That was the type quality the Burnley manager possessed. When he was not bullying attackers, he was scoring clutch Wonder goals. Smooth and brave on the ball, tenacious in the tackle and a leader on pitch.

 

3. Eden Hazard

Hazard just slips to third but he easily could be number one without a shadow of doubt. It didn’t matter how well drilled the defensive shape was, if he wanted to, he would unlock it. He was that good and he knew it. Hazard recently admitted in an interview that the only players he thought were better than him in terms of “pure football” were Messi and Neymar. Yes, that good.

 

4. Romelu Lukaku

 

Rounding our list of the best five Belgium players to have played in the Premier League is Romelu Lukaku.

The 30 year old for much of the past decade practically destroyed defenses on his own. Not with some outrageous piece of skill or anything like that, but with pace and power. Lukaku has left a trail of goals wherever he has been. At times, he can be devastating for both club and country and was in the conversation for being the best striker in the world.

 

5. Thibaut Courtois

Courtois edges some really top performers to take fifth place on our list on the basis of silverware. That’s not to say he wasn’t a top goalkeeper in his four years at Chelsea. He just wasn’t the player we now know him to be at Real Madrid. Football is a result based sport, add that to his performances at Chelsea and you can see why he sneaks in here.
