Goalkeeper Giroud steps up to save AC Milan

AC Milan striker, Olivier Giroud had to fill in for as a goalkeeper for his club after Maignan was shown the red card.

Aware they would go top of the Serie A table after Inter Milan’s 2-2 draw with Bologna. AC Milan took a late lead through Christian Pulisic in the 87th minutes.

Over 10 minutes later, AC Milan goalkeeper, Mike Maignan rushed outside his eighteen yard box trying to nod the ball out but ended up feasting his knee into the chest of Genoa player, Caleb Ekuban. He was shown the red card and sent out of the pitch.

With AC Milan already exhausted their substitution, a player had to move in goal. Olivier Giroud took the bold step and stepped up to task.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea striker made a crucial save in the final minutes to secure AC Milan all three points.

Genoa goalkeeper, Josep Martinez also got a red card after he was shown a second yellow during free kick from Maignan’s red card.

Giroud reveal he was a goalkeeper as a kid and that resulted to him picking up the task to help his team. He also added that he’ll be framing the Maignan’s goalkeeper jersey he wore while in goal.

“I am keeping this jersey now, I’m framing it!”
