“I wasn’t there with my mind” – Lukaku on Champions League final miss with Inter Milan

AS Roma striker, Romelu Lukaku has revealed he didn’t enter the Champions League final with his mind which resulted to his big miss.

Romelu Lukaku was a second half substitute in the 2023 Champions League final between Inter Milan and Manchester City. The Belgian had arguably the best chance of that night for Inter Milan but failed to connect well the ball.

Lukaku returned to Chelsea after his loan spell in Inter but refused to return to the club, picking Juventus ahead of them. A situation that Inter Milan tagged as betrayal.

Lukaku ended up in AS Roma with Jose Mourinho where he has scored 5 times in 6 outings. He spoke about the situation at Inter that made him refused to return to the club and even responsible for his huge miss in the UCL final.

He revealed he wasn’t at the final with his mind as things wasn’t really smooth at Inter Milan.

“When I tell you how the approach to the Champions League final was, you will understand why I wasn’t there with my mind.”

“If I told you how things really went with Inter, you would be shocked. One day you will understand.”
