Joe Cole scored a goal in a Sunday league game that many would consider to be an outrageous effort.

The former Chelsea, Liverpool and Westham midfielder plucked a lofted ball from a central attacking position. He managed to hold off his marker before holding his nerve to lob the goalkeeper.

The reaction from the crowd as the ball went in comprised of shock and amazement. Some could even be seen shaking their heads at the incredulity of the finish.

Joe Cole played alongside a host of other former Premier League players. His teammates, spotting white on blue shorts included former Arsenal midfield Jack Wilshere. He also had former Tottenham and Hull City’s Tom Huddlestone and Watford’s Troy Deeney.

The forty-two year old played for Chelsea, Liverpool and Westham in the height of his playing career. It’s his time at Chelsea that he will mostly be remembered for however as he made almost 200 appearances for the club.

Many will remember him for his talent and technical brilliance and all of it was on show in this outing.

While one maintained that his goal is just a reminder of the levels of football what was on show in the Premier League before.

“Every now and then you’re reminded the levels these pros play/played at. That’s outrageous.”
