Real Madrid captain, Karim Benzema has been hailed for holding up the pennant of Atletico Madrid while his opposite captain, Koke hid Real Madrid’s pennant.
Just before the kickoff of games, club captains are made to exchange pennants and stand for a photograph with the referees.
In the course of this, Karim Benzema was captured captured holding the pennant of his derby rivals, Atletico Madrid in a way that every part of the club’s badge could be seen in the photo.
On the other hand, Atletico Madrid’s captain, Koke only hid the pennant of Real Madrid behind his back as they stood for the photograph. However Real Madrid came out a better team as they defeat Atletico Madrid 3-1 in extra time.
This is not the first time Real Madrid’s pennant is been hidden by an opposition captain. Barcelona’s Sergio Busquet did same thing when they face Real Madrid in an El Clasico Spanish Super Cup final.

Aside the thrilling game and lifting the trophy, one thing that captured the attention of fans is photograph between referees and captains, where incident between Benzema and Koke first happened.
