Luis Diaz’s mesmerizing run versus Manchester City

Luis Diaz’s mesmerizing run versus Manchester City

Liverpool versus Manchester city rarely lets you down and today’s clash was not different. Luis Diaz’s mesmerizing run in the second half encapsulated the spirit of everyone associated with the Liverpool.

The Anfield crowd roared the team on from the first minute and forced a shell shocked city into uncharacteristic errors. City went into the break on the lead through stones, but it was all Liverpool at the start of the second half.

Jurgen Klopp’s men made Guardiola’s team of superstars look like children in a frustrating afternoon for the Blues.
The city players failed to impose themselves in the game as we often see. Debruyne aside from his clever corner was anonymous until his substitution which left him seething. Even worse was Haaland who only had had only 21 touches in the game by the 85th minute.

The Liverpool players on the other hand were set on sending Klopp away with one last hurrah. Diaz took it really personally in the second half following a City counter. He ran the length of the pitch as he singlehandedly brought Liverpool away on the counter. He took on two city players including Kyle Walker who was left on the seat of his pants completely bamboozled by the Colombian.

Diaz played a no look pass in the 85th minute as he seemed to grow in energy despite playing with high intensity. He embarked on another mazy dribble in the 98th minute before giving the ball away.

The game finished 1-1 but Liverpool fans and Klopp will know that it’s two points dropped in what brings an end to another defining rivalry.

Diaz especially will come away from the pitch feeling like he cost Liverpool the points despite his brilliant display.

Luis Diaz’s mesmerizing run versus Manchester City is a perfect sum of the kind of player he is. He posseses talent and industry on the ball but lacks the composure in the crucial moments.
