Manchester United to pay tribute to late Queen Elizabeth II in match against Real Sociedad

UK monarch, Queen Elizabeth II has today passed away at the age of 97. Manchester United will observe a minute silent in honour of the Queen.

Manchester United will take on Real Sociedad in the first leg of their EUROPA league match.

A special tribute will be heard for the oldest serving monarch before the start of the match.

The news about Queen Elizabeth II ailing health was announced few hours ago before the confirmation of her death in her Scottish estate.

Per BBC, a statement made His Majesty the King, King Charles III, who has becomes head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms, said:

“The death of my beloved mother Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

Prime Minister Liz Truss also describe the Queen as the rock upon which modern Britain was built.
