Mason Mount and Chelsea have failed to come to an agreement on a possible contract extension for the midfielder who have spent all of his career at Stamford Bridge.
Speculations taunting that the Mount will leave Chelsea at the end of the season is growing stronger by the day, with Liverpool reported to be heavily interested in him.
A dig into the negotiation between Chelsea and Mason Mount reveals the club is giving the player a salary offer that Mount believes is too little and a very extended contract period.
Chelsea is putting an eight (8) year deal on the table for Mount, a deal that would expire when he’s 32 years of age, and salary of £180,000 a week is what is been matched with this contract period.
This contract have been heavily rejected by Mason Mount who have appointed Neil Fewings as his new agent and would be representing him in the meetings with Chelsea.
A comparison with Reece James earlier signed contract revealed a clearer picture on why Mount is adamant about his new offer.
Reece James got a six year contract that see him earning £250,000 weekly and would be 28 by the end of his already running contract. This gives him an opportunity for one more big contract in his career, compared to Mount who would be 32 and already be termed “aged” when the contract been offered to him expires.
