Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has announced the 2022 World Cup scheduled to kick-off on November 20th in Qatar would be his last World Cup.
This World Cup would be Messi’s fifth, having represented Argentina in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.
The Paris Saint-Germain star and his Argentina team are tipped to be the World Cup favorite to win the prestigious trophy this year.

The closest Messi has come to winning the World Cup was in 2014 when Argentina faced Germany at the final and got a disappointing loss, thanks to Mario Gotze extra time strike.
Messi has managed to score only six times in the World Cup, one in 2010, four in 2014 and one in 2018. Messi has also recorded five assist at the World Cup.
Messi’s only World Cup trophy also came in 2014 when he was given the Golden Ball for being the best player in the tournament.
With his current form, Messi would be looking to increase his statistics at the coming World Cup.
