Messi to remain in Europe to increase his 2023 Ballon d’OR chances

There is a big question concerning Lionel Messi’s future and where he would be next summer. The Argentine stands a chance in winning the 2023 Ballon d’OR after producing a stunning performance at the 2022 World Cup.

Messi have been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain with clubs from Saudi Arabia and the MLS all keen on coping the Argentine magician. Barcelona are also heavily interested in reuniting with their former skipper.

According to Barca Universal, Messi’s preference is staying in Europe in order to advance his chances of winning another Ballon d’OR title. Messi is already the record holder of the award, having won it seven times, at least two more than any other footballer.

With Barcelona interested in resigning Messi, PSG are not keen on letting the World Cup winner leave as they want a contract renewal. Despite failure to come to terms with Messi’s representatives, PSG are preparing a new deal proposal for Messi who is represented by his father, Jorge Messi.

Messi have come under serious criticism from Paris Saint-Germain fans who claims the player contributes less than what he earns to the club. He was booed during their last 2-0 loss in the hands of Rennes.
