Croatia captain, Luka Modric had tipped Lionel Messi to win the 2022 World Cup after the Argentine helped his country defeat Croatia in the semi final of the World Cup.

Luka Modric and Croatia had a stellar tournament in Qatar, winning the likes of Belgium and Brazil to get to the Semifinals, but unfortunately fell short to Argentina.

Argentina, led by Lionel Messi defeated and undisputed Croatian side 3-0 to advanced to the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and would face whoever wins between Morocco and France in the final.

In a post match interview, Modric said he would love Lionel Messi and Argentina to win the World Cup, stating that the Paris Saint-Germain star has proven he’s the best player in the world.

“I hope Lionel Messi wins this World Cup, he is the best player in history and he deserves it.”
