Liverpool who is struggling to climb up the EPL table were shocked to see themselves three goals down in the first 45 minutes of the clash.
Goals from Piotr Zielinski, Zambo Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone were enough to send Liverpool back to England with a serious question about their future.
Luis Diaz scored a goal to reduce the win margin and taking the score to 4-1.
Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen saw his penalty saved by Allison Becker and not long after that was substituted with an injury, giving Liverpool some sort of relief.
Since the departure of Sadio Mane, Liverpool are finding it difficult to get back to the run of form they have enjoyed over the years.
