Former Chelsea and Manchester United player, Nemanja Matic has revealed the disturbing level of lateness amongst Manchester United players during his time at the club.

Matic switched from Chelsea to Manchester United in 2017 during Jose Mourinho time at Old Trafford. He became a key player for Mourinho till the Portuguese tactician was relieved off the Man Utd job.

Matic pointed at Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho as the most frequent late comers to training. He also revealed the fine for lateness to training he initiated raised a whopping $75,000 within a season.

“At Chelsea, players acted professionally, they were punctual and were never late for training but at United it happened almost every day. Among the players who would always be late were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho and couple of other players.”

The rest of us who were always on time were angry so we decided to form a kind of an internal disciplinary committee with me serving as its president.

I put a sheet of paper up on the wall where I documented the names of individuals arriving late. During one particular season, we collected around £75,000 in fines.”

Jadon Sancho had a fallout with Manager Erik ten Hag after he was called out by the tactician for his lateness and remorseful attitude. He publicly debunked the claims by Ten Hag and has since been pulled out of the team for failing to tender an apology.
