Patrice Evra blast Erik ten Hag over the use of Ronaldo

Former Manchester player, Patrice Evra have called out current coach of the team for not playing Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester United disastrous lost to City.

Ronaldo was mad to be part of the spectators as he sat all 90 minutes on the bench watching his team get trashed.

It’s a new feeling for the Portuguese as he as always been a first team player all through his football career.

In the first Manchester derby of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo had his full time play from the bench as City trashed United 6-3.

Manchester United coach in a post match interview said he didn’t bother bringing on the five time Ballon d’OR winner after Manchester United were loosing awfully, because of the respect he has for him and his career.

Responding to how Ronaldo interacted in training after sitting on the bench, Erik ten Hag said;

“He’s not happy that he didn’t play Sunday, don’t get me wrong, but the question was about his mood in training, where he’s happy. Of course, he wants to play and he’s pissed off when he’s not playing. It is normal for a top player to be expected to play in big games”

Patrice Evra has called out Erik ten Hag over his choice of not using Cristiano and the excuse of having respect for his career.

Evra who played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo during his first time at Manchester United, knows his qualities and feels the 37-year-old doesn’t deserve to be on the bench.

The former Manchester United left back questioned Erik ten Hag response to not playing Ronaldo against Manchester City and he doesn’t start in the first team.

“I don’t like his comments after the Manchester City game. When he was asked why Ronaldo didn’t play, he said ‘it was out of respect for his career’. Why doesn’t he play and why did he not start in the first squad?  It doesn’t make any sense.”
