Pep Guardiola substituted me for scoring goals – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has called out his former boss, Pep Guardiola in a new rant, recapping how he was subjected to substitution for scoring goals.

Ibrahimovic signed for Barcelona in 2009 and spent only one season with the club before returning to Italy with AC Milan. In his one year with Barcelona, the Swedish international scored 22 goals in 46 appearances.

Pep Guardiola and Zlatan Ibrahimovic didn’t have the best of relationship. The player had claimed the manager would substitute him for simply scoring goals.

“At Barcelona, I was the tallest player in the field, but when Iniesta and Xavi have the ball they always see Messi. I don’t blame them because Messi never disappoints with the ball at his feet, it’s either it’s a goal or assist.

What I liked so much when they see Messi, and Messi will see Zlatan. And then when Zlatan is getting goals from Messi’s assists Pep Guardiola would stand up and call the fourth official to raise his substitution board to substitute Zlatan who scoring goals.”
