List of players to miss the World Cup due to injuries

The 2022 World Cup is fast approaching, national teams are getting buckled up for the world most watched event though sadly, would loss some of their key players due to injuries.

As club football still goes on, players are at high risk of sustaining injuries prior to the World Cup.

In the past many players has failed to feature in this event for same sad reasons.

AllSoccer brings you an intensive list of players who are set to miss this years World Cup because of injuries they sustained;

1. N’golo Kante:

Chelsea midfielder, N’golo Kante has been ruled off from participating for France in the 2022 World in Qatar. The top tier midfielder has suffered series of injuries in recent time.

Kante who just returned from injury was announced to have sustained another injury by Chelsea manager, Graham Potter. Kante is reported to be out for three months, a time frame which falls into the World Cup period.

N’golo Kante was a key part of France team that won the 2018 World Cup and would be missed by the team.

2. Pedro Neto:

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger, Pedro Neto is another player who would miss the 2022 World Cup after damaging his ankle ligaments.

The fast and skillful winger was tipped as one of the top talents that would represent Portugal at the World Cup

3. Diogo Jota:

Liverpool attacker, Diogo Jota will miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after picking up a muscle injury in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Manchester City.

Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp announced Jota would be out for 4 months but he doesn’t require a surgery. His healing process has started.

4. Reece James:

Chelsea right-back, Reece James is out with a knee injury and he’s expected to be on the sideline for eight weeks, a time frame that runs into the World Cup.

The agile right-back was a powerhouse for Gareth Southgate’s England team. His unlucky injury came in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over AC Milan at San Siro, after a tackle from Theo Hernandez.

5. Luis Diaz:

Columbian and Liverpool winger, Luis Diaz will sadly miss the World Cup after picking up an injury in Liverpool’s clash against Arsenal.

Diaz had his knee fractured after colliding with Arsenal’s Thomas Party and is expected to be out for 6-8 weeks, missing the World Cup.

6. Paulo Dybala:

Argentina playmaker, Paulo Dybala is also set to miss the World Cup in Qatar after picking up an injury while on club duties with AS Roma.

Dybala is diagnosed with biceps femoris strain in the left thigh and will reportedly miss four-to-six weeks and won’t be fit for World Cup.

7. Ronald Araujo: 

Barcelona defender, Ronald Araujo is expected to miss the World Cup after picking up a wrist injury.

The solid defender is expected to be out for weeks and won’t represent his nation, Uruguay at the World Cup.
