Players with $1billion release clause are common among young players of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The big money is placed on young players who are confirmed to have great potentials to do in the future to tie them to their current team while scaring away possible buyer teams.
Players between the ages of 16 to 25 are common in this category. They are seen as the future of their parent clubs.
Here is a list of players with $1Billion release clause;
1. Vinicius Jr:
Real Madrid placed a release clause of $1billion on Vini Jr during his contract extension, after the Brazilian revitalized himself and became on of the most key players in the Real Madrid squad.
Real Madrid is further looking to extend Vini Jr contract to 2027 ahead of it’s 2024 expiry date. The contract would see Vini Jr earn around £8.6million annually.

With one of the most notable breakout season for Barcelona in recent times, Ansu Fati is staying on top of his game to prove his quality.
Despite being struck with injury problems from an early age, Fati is holding up. Barcelona believes in the young Spaniard abilities and to secure his future with the club, place a $1Billion release clause on him.
3. Pedri:
The “new born Andres Iniesta,” is unarguably the best young midfielder in current football. Pedri has proven himself worthy across all sphere of football, from club to country.
Winning both club and individual titles, he is one of the most sort after player in the world. Barcelona has shown they are really grateful to have him and are scaring away any potential suitor by slamming a $1Billion release clause on him.
4. Rodrygo:
Another young potential Brazilian. Rodrygo has shown he’s equal to the task every football greats has and are doing. He was a key figure for Real Madrid 2022 Champions League win.
The young winger is part of Real Madrid plan for the future and to keep him the club has placed a $1Billion release clause on him.
5. Ronald Araujo:
The only defender with such high clause. In the past few years, Ronald Araujo has proven he can be the bedrock upon which Barcelona team can stand.
The Uruguayan has shown his versatility in the defense line, being able to play in any defensive position. Barcelona during his contract extension, placed a $1Billion release clause on him.
6. Gavi:
The wonder-kid is the latest player on the $1Billion list. Gavi at just 18 has proven to be one of the best midfielder out now. Playing and becoming the youngest player to score for Spain national team at just 17-year-old.
Barcelona are sure about Gavi’s future and letting him slide from their hands is being avoided. During his contract extension few days ago, Barcelona President, Juan Laporta placed the $1Billion release clause on Gavi.
