Kvaratskhelia involved in brawl and Georgia match versus Greece descends into chaos

Kvaratskhelia involved in brawl and Georgia match versus Greece descends into chaos

The Euro 2024 qualifying match between Georgia and Greece turned chaotic as a brawl erupted at half-time.

The confrontation began when Kvaratskhelia and Petros Mantalos got into a heated exchange. Kvaratskhelia took exception to a challenge with Mantalos being particularly aggressive during the game.

The situation quickly escalated, with numerous players and coaches getting involved in the scuffle. Georgia’s substitute goalkeeper Giorgi Loria and a member of Greece’s backroom staff saw red as tensions flared.

The fact that the qualifying match between Georgia and Greece turned chaotic didn’t separate the two sides. The game ended 0-0 and eventually went into penalties. Penalties is where Georgia secured a 4-2 victory, earning a spot in their first-ever major tournament.

Greece, on the other hand, will be disappointed to miss out once again, having not qualified for the last couple of European Championships.

Kvar-attention: Khvicha is a wanted man

Kvaratskhelia continued a personal display of form as he was one of the stand out players of the match. He has been garnering attention from top European clubs due to his impressive performances for Napoli.

The winger played an instrumental role in helping Napoli win the Serie A title last season. He also led Napoli to the Champions League quarter-finals last season, contributing 17 goals and 14 assists.

Struggles at Napoli this season

Kvaratskhelia’s form suffered slightly this season along with Napoli’s dip in overall performance. The Georgian international has still managed to score 10 goals and provide six assists.

Clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle have all been linked with the talented winger. Newcastle reportedly saw an £82 million bid rejected by Napoli for their young prodigy last summer. PSG also wanted him to replace Neymar before the Brazilian’s move to Al Hilal.

It remains to be seen where Kvaratskhelia will end up, but his potential suitors are closely monitoring his progress as he continues to excel on the pitch.
