Suarez, Maradona and some of the most hated players in football

In football, there are many players who are respected for their skills and achievements on the pitch. Others are some of the most hated players in football for their less than favorable  reputation. These players have been embroiled in controversies that have tarnished their legacy and made them hated by many.

Here is our list of the five most hated players in football.

1. Luis Suarez

The Uruguayan striker has had a long career marred by controversy, from biting opponents on the pitch to making racist remarks. He has been suspended multiple times for his actions, and his reputation has suffered as a result. Despite his undeniable talent, Suarez’s legacy is tainted by his repeated instances of misconduct.

2. Pepe

The Portuguese is still going strong at the age of 41. He has a history of violent and aggressive behavior on the pitch. Pepe has been involved in “a few” incidents of violent conduct including headbutting and kicking opponents. He has received numerous red cards and suspensions for his actions, and has even been labeled a “psychopath” by some in the media. Pepe’s violent behavior has overshadowed his talent as a footballer and is mostly seen through the lens of violence. He has earned the mark of one of the most hated players in football.

Maradona never shied away from his drug use and other controversies. His image may be tarnished in the eyes of many but nothing subtracts from his footballing legacy.

4. Zinedine Zidane
