Ten Haag incurs the wrath of Manchester United supporters by insisting the club is better than they were 12 months ago

Erik Ten Haag says Man United are better than they were 12 months ago and his comments has incurred the wrath of supporters.

His team’s performance versus Arsenal and win over Newcastle seems to have alleviated the pressure on him. The potential of an FA cup win has also eased the pain of missing out on Champion’s League football.

His recent comments ahead of their final game of the season has drawn the ire of supporters who want him gone.

Manchester United inished third in his first season at the helm, sparking hopes of upward movement for the club.

United however go into the final day of this campaign sitting eighth after a tumultuous second season.

As per the Sun, Ten has has now claimed they are in a position than last year. Speaking ahead of the clash with Brighton, interviewers asked if his team had improved. He said:

“When you look at the results, you would say no. But we know the reasons behind that. I would say yes. We have more high quality players in the squad so from that perspective, we are in a better position.”

Fans latched on to him comments and have not taken very kindly to it. Some insisted on wanting him gone a long time ago, while others claim it’s not too late to relieve him if his duties.

“sack this man”, one said on X, formerly Twitter.

“Excuse after excuse,” added another.

“He should have been sacked ages ago,” posted a third.

It adds to a previous comment last month where he claimed Manchester United being in the FA cup final is a huge achievement.
