The Premier league is serving up another banger of a season with a three horse title race promising to go down the wire. But what if the title was decided by the team that has the best midfield in the English Premier league?

We run down a list of the best midfield of all the top sides in the Premier League.

6. Manchester United

 

Manchester United are not playing well at the moment and their charge for Europe has been fueled by the form of teenagers.
At the start of the season, no one would have thought Kobbie Mainoo will be featuring this heavily. Big money signing Mason Mount struggled for form at the start of the campaign before succumbing to injury. It looks like Mainoo, alongside fit again Casemiro and Fernandes will have to settle for 6th on this list. Same as their league position. It will be interesting to see if Mainoo retains his place in the side when Mount returns.

5. Chelsea

Chelsea splashed a combined £222m to sign both Enzo Fernandez, who is already being linked with a Chelsea exit, and Caicedo. Romeo Lavia arrived from Southampton for a further €50m. On paper, that Midfield has some serious potential to dominate any side in the EPL. They may not be pulling up any trees at the moment but should the come good, they will be really good. Chelsea will need to get the players fit first though. A midfield of Enzo, Caicedo and Palmer would do some serious damage. They also have Gallagher, Lesley and Lavia available for rotation.

4. Tottenham

 

Tottenham’s start to the season have faltered a bit due to injuries to key players. But a midfield of Bissouma, Sarr and Maddison helped contribute to an almost flawless start to the campaign. With Bentancur being eased back into a young vibrant midfield, Ange’s side have a lot to be optimistic about.

3. Liverpool

 

Liverpool coming in third will come as a surprise to many considering they currently lead the log. MacAllister and Szoboslai look like automatic starters with Curtis Jones, Endo and Gravenberch rotating into the side. Liverpool are third because in games versus the teams second and first on this list, they have been second best.

2. Arsenal

Arsenal are suffocating teams at the moment aren’t they?. The signing of Rice, who enjoys breaking up play and driving with the ball up the pitch, proving to be a masterstroke.
Alongside Odegaard and Jorginho they have absolutely dominated sides this season. This is without Thomas Partey!!!.
There are doubts about Harvetz suitability to the midfield role he’s featured in for most of the season. But in fit again Smithrowe and the returning Vieira they have good rotation options as well.

Champions based on this and possible eventual champions as well?
City have the best defensive midfielder and the best attacking midfielder in the world Rodri and De Bruyne. It doesn’t matter who comes in to complete the midfield three. They have Foden, Bernardo, Kovacic and Nunes. Players who can easily start for any of the other sides on the list.
