Few would deny that the Premier League is one of the greatest sporting leagues in the history of the world, according to the bookmaker’s its their largest sporting event amongst customers. It’s seen some of the greatest talent the sporting world has ever known, and has given us some of the most memorable moments in the history of football. No doubt, then, some of the greatest players of any sport have been found in the Premier League. That’s why we’re going to look at the top 10 Premier League players of all time.

1. Frank Lampard

Signing on from his career beginnings in West Ham to Chelsea, many have said it was the best thing Chelsea manager Ranieri ever did to get him on the squad. Viera was one of the greatest midfielders of all time and was incredibly skilled at giving his teammates time and space to launch proper attacks. But with nine red cards over the course of his career, he hasn’t exactly stayed out of trouble, either.

Tony Adams is so beloved by his team Arsenal that a statue to him now stands outside the Emirates stadium. Widely regarded as one of the most talented defenders in the Premier League, he has no doubt been a key part in Arsenal’s many victories over the years. It’s easy to forget the quietly important role of defenders in thinking about the best players in Premier League history.

5. Eric Cantona

Even if you don’t know the first thing about football, you’ve probably heard Cantona’s name. Such is the extent of his influence in the sport, and the extent to which he made a name for himself in the Premier League and just in general.

With Man United, he was able to secure four Premier League wins during his time in the game.

6. Roy Keane

A famous midfield fighter, the name Keane struck fear in the hearts of attackers trying to get past him. He would rarely lose competition for the ball, even ending Haland’s career. He was football’s hard man, no doubt.

But he was a man of supreme talent, too, and even Alex Ferguson himself said it was an honour to be associated with him.

7. Cristiano Ronaldo

Who could forget Ronaldo? He needs no introduction and is without doubt one of the best footballers who has ever lived. He saw a 42-goal season at Manchester United which still to this day is one of the most incredible seasons in football history. What more needs to be said? It’s Ronaldo!

Though he may have spent a season or two finding his feet, Arsenal with Henry on attack were a force to be reckoned with. He has been loved by the fans ever since and scored some of the most spectacular goals in the sport’s history.

9. Paul Scholes

One of not many footballers to come out of retirement, he has shown he’s not lost any of his incredible skill. With ten league titles and countless other medals and championships to speak of, he’s one of the most decorated football players in the history of the game.

While there are countless great players in the Premier League, few have achieved the legendary status of Ryan Giggs. With an unbelievable 12 Premier League titles, four wins in the FA Cup, league cups, two UEFA championships—the list goes on—Giggs simply is one of the most successful players the Premier League has ever seen.

It’s hard to imagine that we will see his like again any time soon.

The Premier League has given us its fair share of legends, and we can only expect more to come in the years and decades to follow. From Lampard to Giggs, no doubt some of the best sportsmen of all time were made in the Premier League, and it’s clear to see that the talent isn’t slowing down.
