Thibaut Courtois reacts to Manchester City winning ‘Best Club’ award at the 66th Ballon d’OR

Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois has revealed how he and his teammates reacted to Manchester City winning ‘Best Club’ award ahead of Real Madrid at the just concluded Ballon d’OR award.

Manchester City are one of the teams Real Madrid smatch out to cop their unbelievable Champions League win.

Real Madrid was expected to be the club to win, but it came as a big shocker to not just the Spanish giant but also football fans.

Real Madrid won the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, while Manchester City won the English Premier League scoring a staggering 99 goals.

Manchester City was announced winner of the award that was previously won by Chelsea and it didn’t sit right with Madrid players.

Thibaut Courtois revealed Real Madrid players looked at each other and laughed after Manchester City was announced best club.

“When Manchester City won the trophy for the best club? We looked at each other and laughed.”

Thibaut Courtois won the Yashin Trophy for his outstanding performance in the UCL. He made 59 saves during the 2021/22 Champions League campaign, the most ever recorded in a single season.‬ He also made nine saves in the final, the most ever recorded.
