CIES football observatory have names Bukayo Saka as leader in their top ten most impactful wingers this season.

There is room for Jeremy Doku, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Luis Diaz as Premier League contingents in the list. But who else makes the list of the top ten most impactful wingers this season across Europe.

Many of the Arsenal fans will feel like Bukayo Saka (rated 84.2) missing out on nomination for player of the season is acrimonious. The winger has enjoyed another stellar season for Arsenal in all competitions netting 20 goals and assisting 14.

For a 22 year-old player on whose shoulders lies a big part of the team’s creative burden as they mount a title challenge, he has been very impactful.

Manchester City’s dynamite Phil Foden comes second on the list with a rating of 83.7. He is the likeliest candidate to win EPL player of the season, especially if City pip Arsenal to the title. He has really taken on the creative and goal scoring mantle this season in the absence of Kevin Debruyne.

Even when the Belgian returned, Foden did not slip into the background. 25 goals and 11 assists in all competitions is what impactful means for a player in tinkering Guardiola’s system.

Cole Palmer (80.4) has had a stellar season for Chelsea by all accounts, especially if you consider the kind of mediocre season Chelsea have had.

He has scored 25 goals and 14 assists in all competitions for a Chelsea side that has been bang average for most of the season.

Serially wanted Xavi Simons (79.6) comes fourth after another dominant season in Europe for RB Leipzig. Leon Bailey (79.2) rounds up the top five having enjoyed a productive season for one of Europe’s biggest surprises in Aston Villa.
