“I sold water on the streets” – Victor Osimhen recounts tussle he faced before football

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen have recounted how he tussled for survival while still in his country, Nigeria and before becoming a professional footballer.

Osimhen is on of the most prolific strikers in Europe this season and the reigning top scorer in the Italian league. The striker was recently awarded as the best foreign athlete in Italy.

After receiving the award, Victor describe what growing up in Lagos, Nigeria looked like and how he picked up the challenge of helping his family after they were embarrassed for owing rent by their landlord.

“I remember when they took off the roof of the house, it was me, my niece, my father and my sister we were home and he also threw the dirt into our house. That was when I knew that I have no choice but to try to hustle, to try to help my family. So I went into selling waters on the streets, after selling the waters in the evening I go to train with my friends. And that was when I was seen by a guy that took me to the u17, that was really the turning point in my life.”

Victor Osimhen also revealed his dream of playing in the Premier League. The Napoli striker is being followed by a number of Premier League teams who are bent on getting the signature of the 24-year-old.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have also showed interest in signing Victor who is likely to live the city of Naples in the summer.
