Why do players celebrate with a different World Cup trophy?

When a country wins the World Cup, FIFA hands them the original World Cup for them to lift and enjoy in the moment. It’s solid gold and has the names of all the countries that won it engraved on it.

However, after the celebrations on the field, the players must return the original and be given a replica. It’s a trophy that’s also made of gold and has only the name of the winner on the bottom.

For security reasons, the original World Cup trophy is stored at FIFA office, at Zürich headquarters. It only does two tours: one in the World Cup qualifiers, to visit all 32 qualified countries, and one directly when moved to the host country.
