Michael Olise reveals why he doesn’t celebrate when he scores a goal

Crystal Palace winger, Michael Olise scored a stunning freekick against Manchester United but just turned around and doesn’t celebrate. The French international has revealed why he choose not to celebrate goals.

Manchester United took the lead through Bruno Fernandes and had control of the game till the dead. With 90 minute on the clock, Manchester United gave out a freekick from 30 yards and it was shocking what came off it.

Olise freekick

Michael Olise struck the freekick to the far left angle of Manchester United goalpost and it was near impossible for David De Gea to get a strong hand on a ball that travels in such speed.

With the ball in the back of the net, Oliseh simply turned around and started walking back to the kickoff line without celebrating. His teammates had to jump on him, at least to have a celebration.

Why Olise doesn’t celebrate

I was doing my job so there is no need to celebrate. When a postman delivers an item, does he celebrate? That’s he’s job…

Those were the words from Michael Olise when he was asked why he doesn’t celebrate scoring a goal.

A former teammate of Olise, Tom McIntyre also gave an explanation on Olise’s reaction to scoring a goal.

“We’d say he’s a bit weird sometimes because when he scored goals, he sometimes wouldn’t celebrate. We’d be like, ‘Mike, you’ve just scored an important goal and you’re just walking back? What’s he doing?

“Then he’d play two-touch with the manager (Paunovic) in the gym, he’d win a point in that, and he’d be shouting and celebrating, but on a Saturday, he’d score a goal in front of the home end and just stand there.”

Tom McIntyre however believes Olise does that to stand out from the crowd, which he terms cool as well.

“We never really worked out why. He could never give us an answer but he’s just different; a special player. Midway through last season, he unfollowed all of us on Instagram and only followed about 15 people. There was no one from Reading except maybe one or two of his closest mates on there, which we all found pretty amusing.

“I know what it is, he loves the rapper Lil Uzi Vert and there’s another few of those rappers he likes. They unfollow everyone on their Instagram and I think he wants to be like them. That’s strange to me and some of the lads but to him, that’s different and cool.”
