$6400 Subsidy – Real or Fake?

A viral news of one being qualified and able to receive a funding of $6,400 from a subsidy related to health has erupted for the second time.

The first time the $6,400 subsidy news broke was in far 2003. A video post on Facebook claimed anyone may receive $6400 in their bank account went viral on March 13, 2003. The individual can be heard in the video claiming that she called the health hotline and was approved for $6400 in credits.

The lady also happily celebrated the fact that she can now fix her financial needs while dropping a link to the website she claimed one can check their eligibility from. A viral picture of people queuing to receive the believed fund was also added.

It was very easy for this message to fly around. Many immediately jumped on the website to check if they are qualified for it. With most people unable to afford health insurance, they saw it as an opportunity for them.

None of the health subsidies were paid out to individuals who completed the registration form. People allege in numerous similar video that they registered on a website and then received health subsidies and other forms of financial aid in their bank accounts.

The website falsely states that qualified people will get a $6400 health subsidy in their bank account. This claim is false and misleading because Medicaid or medical insurance are never paid out in cash in America.

The website is also not connected to any official government portal. Such a Medicaid option has never been offered or referenced on any official government websites.

Health Insurance

With a few exceptions, practically everyone is required to get health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. You fulfill the conditions for coverage if you are covered by your employer’s insurance or if you are eligible for Medicare or Medicaid.

Adults with limited means, children, women who are pregnant, people with disabilities who are 65 years of age or older, the offspring of extremely wealthy people, etc can get free or inexpensive medical care through Medicaid:

A tax return and Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit (PTC), must be filed in order to be eligible for health subsidies. The Premium Tax Credit, or PTC as it is more frequently known, is a refundable credit created to help qualified people and families pay the premiums for health insurance they acquired in the health insurance market.
