Florida Extreme Sunburn Competition – Full Details

Viral images from a supposed Extreme Sunburn competition held in Florida is taking over the internet.

The images first appeared on X (formerly twitter) after it was shared by user named Mike Baggz. The tweet shows images of people (especially seniors) whose body looks hot red from the suppose sunburn.

While the originality of the competition is questioned, Mike Baggz captioned his post with;

“Extreme sunburn competition in Florida. And before you ask, yes this is a real event”

Despite his claims of the event being real, many still doubt the originality and tag it an AI generated images. Some still believe they are real images simply because it is said to be done in Florida.

Occupants of Florida are believed to be the most hardened and mindful people in America. They can go extreme to do whatever they want and initiating such extreme sunburn event is not any surprising.

The first time a sunburn contest was planned to be initiated was in 2011. The competition was held by a UK company called “DealChecker,” where they encouraged people to submit their sunburn or sunbathing photos to earn prices like free holiday or cash.

The company after facing much criticism claimed that they were misunderstood as the purpose of the competition was to promote sun safety. The competition lasted for six weeks.

We can however confirm the images going viral are fake, they are AI generated images. We can attest to this via the effect of the suppose sunburn. They look like plastics placed on the skin of the seniors in the images.
