Fan starts petition to investigate Chelsea spending if they complete the signing of Enzo Fernandez

A fan have started a petition to investigate Chelsea spending if they complete the signing of Enzo Fernandez in the final hours of the transfer window.

Chelsea has been the busiest team in the transfer market this winter transfer window. With seven signins completed already, the West London club are looking at getting a potential eight signing with Enzo Fernandez.

The Todd Boehly led team have been after Enzo Fernandez since his superb display at the 2022 World Cup with Argentina that made him clinch the young player of the year award. Though the first negotiation broke down, Chelsea representatives are back in Portugal and are willing to match the demands of Benfica, even if President Rui Costa is adamant about letting the player leave.

Chelsea have brought in Malo Gusto for £26.3m in a six-and-a-half-year-contract  though he would be loaned back to Lyon for the remainder of 22/23 season. Noni Madueke for £35m in a seven-and-a-half year contract with option for an extra year. Mykhailo Mudryk for £88million in a seven-and-a-half year contract with option for an extra year. Benoit Badiashile for £33.7million in a seven-and-a-half year contract with option for an extra year.

They’ve also brought in Joao Felix for six-month loan worth £9.7million fee plus 100% wages without an option to buy. Andrey Santos for £11million in a long-term contract. David Datro Fofana for £10million in a six-and-a-half year contract with an option for an extra year.

Signings made by Chelsea have become concerns to other Premier League teams who have raised concern about the team not being affected by the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rule and demanding the team be checked. Chelsea claims they’ve been able to counter the FFP rule with longer contracts than usual. They give their newly signed players contracts that gets up seven or eight years, that helps to equate the money spent without faulting FFP rule.
